LendingTree (Nasdaq: TREE) has made an agreement with the American Express Membership Rewards program, the world’s largest card-based rewards program, enabling program enrollees to earn membership rewards bonus points when they buy or sell their home via a special, co-branded LendingTree Realty Services website.

The special site, powered by the LendingTree Lend-X technology, will enable American Express Membership Rewards enrollees who complete a real estate transaction the opportunity to obtain 2,000 bonus points for every $10,000 of a home’s sale or purchase price. Program enrollees are able to redeem points in various reward categories, including travel, retail merchandise, shopping and recreation gift certificates, entertainment and charity donations through Membership Rewards and its partners.

“The agreement between LendingTree and American Express provides a unique opportunity for LendingTree customers who are also enrolled in the Membership Rewards program,” LendingTree President and Chief Operating Officer Tom Reddin said in a statement. “As consumers who can appreciate the additional value derived when using a real estate professional in the LendingTree network, Membership Rewards enrollees can — connect with an experienced real estate professional who will offer them the best in customer service — and then receive Membership Reward bonus points from American Express.”

LendingTree Realty Services provides consumers with a way to connect with a nationwide network of approximately 7,000 real estate professionals who can aid in the sale or purchase of a home. Real estate professionals who participate on the LendingTree Realty Services Network represent more than 650 real estate companies, including large independent real estate companies and members of major franchises like Coldwell Banker, Century 21, Prudential, ERA, Re/Max, GMAC and Realty Executives.
