Overture Networks, a developer of products that enables carriers to deliver voice and data services over a metro IP optical network, has selected Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation of Camarillo, CA, as its supplier for network processors.
Overture Networks says its platform, the ISG 5000 Multi-Service IP Gateway, is designed to offer a cost-effective, long-term solution that can grow with the application. Selecting the Vitesse IQ2000 network processor as a key component translates into tremendous flexibility for the customer, the company says, providing an advantage that is not available with other products in the market.
“With our decision to utilize a network processor in our ISG 5000 Multi-Service IP Gateway, we found Vitesse’s equipment offered the best features,” Prayson Pate, vice president of engineering for Overture, said in a statement. “The performance, scalability and product roadmap of their processor is an excellent match with the solution that we are developing.”
Overture Networks ISG 5000 Multi-Service IP Gateway is currently in lab testing with several significant telecom carriers. The company anticipates field tests to be completed this spring with a product release to follow.
