CHARLOTTE -Leaders in the technologies industry will discuss ways in which technology is enabling commerce during a panel discussion at “Banking on the Future of Technology: From Adversity to Opportunity.”

This conference will be hosted by the North Carolina Electronics and Information Technologies Association (NCEITA), in partnership with prominent national magazines InformationWeek and Network Computing. It will be held from May 21-22 on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Jack Waters, chief technology officer of Level3 Communictions, will kick off this segment of the conference with remarks on next generation telecom infrastructure. Following Waters’ remarks, a top-level panel will discuss hot trends in enabling technologies.

Panelists include Bill Smith, CTO of BellSouth Corporation; Scott Faris, chief executive officer of Waveguide Solutions, Inc.; Rick Marcotte, vice president and general manager of Invensys Energy Systems for North America, and Ben Holcomb, former president of U.S. Cellular and BellSouth Mobility. Paul McKinnis, managing director of Global Telecom for Korn Ferry, will moderate the panel.

The Enabling Technologies keynote and panel will be on Wednesday, May 22 at 3:30 PM at the Barnhardt Student Center.

Other conference speakers confirmed to date include Alfred Berkley, vice chairman of the NASDAQ Stock Market; Lori Collins, senior VP of LendingTree.com, and Bill Scales, chief operating officer and CTO of the Principal Financial Group.
