Alliance Technology Ventures, a venture capital firm that focuses on technology and life sciences companies, announced today that it is promoting William Lyman to the position of general partner.

Previously, Lyman served as principal for ATV. His experience includes engineering and investing disciplines, according to a statement release by the company.

In a prepared statement ATV managing general partner Mike Henos says: “Bill has clearly demonstrated the attributes needed to help us move forward and is an excellent addition to our team as we enter the next phase of development for ATV.”

The release also states that ATV has been experiencing “significant growth” during the last two years and that the firm’s current portfolio is invested in 18 companies, including Sychip, Inc., a Lucent Technologies company that develops radio frequency integrated circuits, and Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc., a manufacturer of microchips.
