Chosen from more than 250 entries, LVL7 Systems’ FASTPATH software has been selected a winner of the Best of Interop Award at NetWorld+Interop 2002 in Las Vegas, one of the networking industry’s most popular events.

LVL7, one of three finalists, won in the “Embedded Networking Technology” category, a new category that recognizes the value companies such as Cary-based LVL7 bring to the networking infrastructure market. Winners in 11 categories were selected at the show and announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“This is a huge milestone for LVL7, which first introduced FASTPATH exactly one year ago,” company spokesman Robert Brown said of the award. “LVL7 has experienced strong demand for FASTPATH in the past six months and this recognition should provide an added boost to its sales, as well as valuable momentum for LVL7 as it works to close on funding.”

The company says its FASTPATH product represents a first in the networking industry: a comprehensive software architecture that enables vendors to quickly build network infrastructure equipment regardless of what embedded operating system or chip technology they are utilizing. The software, LVL7 says, also addresses a pressing need of equipment vendors: the ability to add revenue-generating applications, such as bandwidth provisioning.
