Compendia Solutions, Inc., a provider of knowledge-based network management solutions to enterprise and network service providers, has added VISTA Information Technologies, Inc. to its beta program.

VISTA, a provider of customer interaction solutions in Herndon, VA says it will deploy Compendia’s fault isolation and resolution technology to increase network management efficiency for its enterprise clients. VISTA and its growing customer base stand to benefit from the Compendia deployment, the company says, by reducing the time their staffs spend on network fault isolation and problem resolution by an estimated 50 percent.

“We feel Compendia had identified the one truly missing component in Network Management,” Steve Yager, VISTA’s vice president for managed services, said in a statement. “Compendia’s solution could substantially improve the way network operations are performed. If developed correctly, it could eliminate much of the burden of fault surveillance and reduce the cost of managing networks and systems.”

Raleigh-based Compendia says it uses a patent-pending engine and knowledge-base that is “always on and always listening” to automate error detection and offer solution recommendations in plain English, so they can be acted upon even by technicians with limited skill. When problems extend beyond a single component, Compendia automatically assesses the system-wide relational implications of a failure, and offer the shortest path to a solution.

Crews told Local Tech Wire in mid-April that Compendia needs $2.5 million in funding to bring its product to market. He also believes the company’s collective management experience in the field will satisfy investors. Crews has spent 15 years in IT management. Bill McKenzie, the chief technologist, has 25 years in the business.
