ChannelAdvisor, a provider of enterprise marketplace management solutions, has renewed a marketplace agreement with IBM through 2003, and says it will expand its technology and services into other divisions of Big Blue.
For the past year, IBM has used ChannelAdvisor’s marketplace management services to sell excess inventory from the Personal Consumer Division (PCD) to the 41 million buyers on the eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY) marketplace.
ChannelAdvisor manages all the details of devising strategies and tactics, preparing and posting inventory, handling buyer inquiries, creating promotions and providing analysis for IBM, the company says. In a few months, IBM became one of the top 10 sellers on eBay, according to ChannelAdvisor.
“ChannelAdvisor has helped IBM gain a strong competitive advantage as we continue to extend and grow our online business,” Paul Canham, program executive for worldwide IBM auction sales, said in a statement. “ChannelAdvisor’s technology platform allows us to build a scalable solution that meets our needs at every stage of our marketplace strategy.”
ChannelAdvisor says it has expanded IBM’s auction business to multiple consumer marketplaces including Yahoo!, CNet and uBid due to the growing success of IBM sales on eBay.
Recently, ChannelAdvisor has expanded its technology and services into other IBM divisions.
