Network processing software developer LVL7 Systems will announce today a partnership with Marvell, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based producer of broadband communications semiconductors, to produce turn-key, productions-ready platform for Gigabit Ethernet applications in the enterprise and metro markets.

Appearing at the NetWorld + Interop trade show in Las Vegas, where their company is one of three finalists for the “Best in Show” award in the embedded software category, LVL7 officials say their FastPath software will run on top of Marvell’s Prestera architecture to provide managing switching, routing and other advanced services. The integrated design provides all of the software required to introduce platforms ranging from a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet desktop switch to a Metropolitan Core Router with a flexible hardware platform that provides 20 billion bits per second of processing power, LVL7 says.

“LVL7’s FastPath networking technology platform and software products integrated with Marvell’s Prestera processors will save OEMs millions of dollars in development, systems integration and testing of high-performance Ethernet products,” LVL7 President Ernie Baker says in a statement. “This combination will enable system developers to begin volume shipments of fully tested Gigabit Ethernet desktop and metropolitan access products while lowering development risk and accelerating time to market.”
