Caspian Networks, the networking equipment manufacturer that has a facility in Research Triangle Park, says L. William Krause, previous chief executive officer of Exodus Communications, is the company’s new president and CEO.

Krause replaces outgoing CEO Bill Sickler. In a prepared statement, company officials say Sickler played a “turnaround” role with Caspian and that his stepping down is due to his mission with Caspian, which included focusing on reducing the firm’s burn rate and other “operating issues”, has run its course.

Officials at Caspian did not immediately return telephone calls.

Sickler also helped privately-held Caspian land a $120 million cash infusion earlier this month from a group of investors that includes ABN AMRO Private Equity and Oak Investment Partners, among others.
