Silverpop Systems, a provider of e-mail marketing and customer communication management software, has struck a deal with Akami Technologies that it says will ensure delivery of rich-media messages.

Silverpop has created an enterprise-class software solution that allows its Global 1000 and Marketing Agency customers to deliver scalable electronic mail communications, the company says. Integrating with Akamai’s distributed network will allow Silverpop’s
customers to deliver tens of millions of messages anywhere in the world, both companies say.

Silverpop’s software has been designed for e-mail marketing activities by companies that require huge scalability on a moment’s notice. Silverpop has developed the capability to simultaneously deliver millions of messages that include rich media content. Cambridge, MA-based Akamai says its distributed architecture ensures that all Silverpop messages, particularly ones containing rich media, play instantly anywhere in the world.

The Akamai EdgeSuite service is designed to deliver all forms of content, including dynamic elements like video, flash, audio and animations, to end users.
