Misys Healthcare Systems (formerly Medic Computer Systems) has struck a deal with Hawthorn Physician Services Corp. of St. Louis, MO.

The agreement provides the organization with the Misys Vision/Optimum system, a complete package of patient management, administrative and managed care applications. With more than 100,000 claims handled each month, Hawthorn officials say efficiency isn’t an option, it’s a critical component of their business, and that Misys will help them be more efficent.

“We always try to gain as much efficiency as we can,” Hawthorn owner Alan Dombrowski said in a statement. “We pride ourselves in being innovative when it comes to streamlining our operations.”

Hawthorn’s previous IT system, Polci, was being discontinued, so a ensued. Hawthorn said it formed a committee and evaluated six companies over a six-month period.

“Misys was a clear winner,” said Dombrowski. “The strength and national presence of Misys Healthcare Systems was significant for us. Service and support for us is critical. The scope Misys offers provides us with the backing and service we expect.”
