Springboard Managed Hosting, a local data center and web hosting company, has appointed Jack Tackett as data center operations manager.

In this position, Tackett will be responsible for ongoing product development and support programs. He also will oversee customer integration and support activities.

Tackett brings senior management experience to Springboard. His previous stints include director of professional services for
YellowBrick Solutions, manager of operations for The Foveon Corporation and Nortel Networks and senior system administrator
for Railinc.

“Joining the Springboard management team is a terrific opportunity,” Tackett said in a statement. “My role is to ensure that we consistently deliver highly engineered solutions, impeccable service quality and responsive 24×7 tech support.”

Tackett, an Ohio native and author of 10 books, joins
Springboard in its first year of existence.

Springboard President Chris Hanks and Chief Executive Officer Rich Lee, former colleagues at Duro Communications in Orlando, FL, bought Utenzi, which they renamed Springboard, last year. Lee and Hanks paid less than a half
million dollars for the bankrupt Internet company and moved in to the existing facilities in Cary. The company is profitable and closed 2001 with around $2 million in revenues.

With other recent hires, Springboard is nearing 20 employees. It
began the year with 15 people and hopes to finish with 25.
Besides Tackett, Springboard recently hired Shaune Hatley and
Jason Gonding as IDC technicians. In these roles, Hatley and Gonding, who both come from the similar jobs at a facility in Durham, will be responsible for ongoing systems and network maintenance and troubleshooting, server installation, configuration and administration and other customer support duties.
