HAHT Commerce, a provider of demand chain management
applications, has formed a global alliance to provide solutions
for the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry with KPMG
Consulting (NASDAQ: KCIN), one of the world’s largest consulting
and business systems integration firms.

The alliance will offer CPG manufacturers a solution to manage
channel partner relationships by Web-enabling business
processes. Businesses can extend brand visibility and product
information in real time, gain insight into buyers’ responses to
marketing and promotional efforts, and collaborate to sell and
market across all channels, the companies say. Potential business benefits include reduced costs, enhanced customer retention, and increased revenues.

“You can’t promise customers a quick return on their investment unless you can quickly implement a solution that fits their needs, and you can’t implement quickly without the right implementation partner,” Tom Thomas, president and chief executive officer of HAHT, said in a press release. “KPMG Consulting knows CPG and its track record of success speaks for itself. We are proud to be aligned with such a fine consulting and business systems integration partner.”

Bob Rhea, senior vice president of KPMG’s CPG division, said in
a statement: “Our relationship with HAHT Commerce is designed to
help CPG manufacturers rapidly leverage technology to
efficiently streamline the demand chain business processes and
enhance competitiveness. Innovative manufacturers that
synchronize and maintain accurate product data now-rather than
wait for retailers to demand these changes-can outpace
competitors in realizing the bottom-line benefits of trading
partner collaboration. HAHT’s proven applications combined with
KPMG Consulting’s process, integration and industry experience
can offer CPG companies compelling business value including a
potentially dramatic return on investment.”

Founded in 1995, HAHT Commerce is headquartered in Raleigh and
has operations in North America, Europe, Asia/Pacific and Latin
America. It has received funding from several venture
capitalists, including APAX Partners, Bank of America Capital
Investors, CIBC, Granite Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Sippl
Macdonald Ventures, and Southeast Interactive. New partner KPMG
is based in McLean, VA, and has 10,000 employees around the world. With more than 2,500 clients, KPMG’s annual revenues approach $3 billion.
