“Welcome back to the Philanthropy Journal.”

That was the lead paragraph from Thursday’s “Editor’s Note” in what for the last two years has been known as Nonprofitxpress, an online publication covering on the efforts of philanthropists and nonprofit organizations throughout North Carolina (www.nonprofitxpress.org/front.asp )

Editor Todd Cohen, who founded the monthly Philanthropy Journal of North Carolina newspaper in 1993 with help from The News & Observer’s corporate foundation, will continue issuing the daily publication in electronic format.

Cohen left the newspaper he created and its online sister, the Philanthropy News Network, which at the time had a national focus but has since lapsed into inactivity, to work for the A.J. Fletcher Foundation in Raleigh. Nonprofitxpress launched in February 2000.

“We are proud of our digital publication, and equally proud to revive the name of a pioneering North Carolina newspaper,” Cohen wrote.
