Privately held and venture capital backed Digitalsmiths is going west, expanding its reach with a new center in Denver.

It’s called the Digitalsmiths Global Discovery Center.

The Durham-based company says the additional office will focus on previewing, simulating and testing new and updated technology being incorporated into its proprietary video search and recommendations products.

“As a result of our incredible demand and customer growth, Digitalsmiths realized there was no location for companies to test and experience the next-generation of video discovery offerings,” said Ben Weinberger, co-founder and CEO of Digitalsmiths, in announcing the new location. “We’re proud to open this center in Denver, home to service providers and industry-leading associations as well as a wealth of local talent and industry experts.”

The company plans to work on use of its Seamless Discovery platform on a growing number of “screens,” from set-top boxes to smart TVs, gaming consoles, smartphones and tables.

“Partners will also receive an in-depth overview on best practices for implementing personalized video discovery solutions and next-generation guidance and navigation,” the company says.

Last week, Digitalsmiths announced that Australia-based Foxtel had signed on to use its technology. Foxtel will utilize Seamless Discovery across broadcast and Internet Protocol-based TV properties.

Digitalsmith clients include: Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Cisco, Foxtel, Warner Bros., Paramount, Technicolor, Univision, Turner Sports, the NBA, the PGA, NASCAR, zeebox and i.TV.
