The Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster is teaming up with NCRIoT (NC Regional Internet of Things), STMicroelectronics, NC State Center for Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST), and NCIDEA to host afternoon workshops and an evening of conversation on shaping the future of North Carolina’s Internet of Things community.

The evening program is set at 6 p.m. at the James B Hunt Library on the NC State Centennial Campus

Keynote speaker is Theresa Wong, Verizon’s Director of Corporate IoT Strategy.

  • TADHack coming to Triangle

Bandwidth.com in Raleigh has formed a partnership with TADHack to host a two-day developer hackathon to build “the next great advancement in communications technology.”

TADHack Raleigh will take place on June 13-14, at Bandwidth’s Raleigh headquarters. As part of theTADHack Telecom Application Developer Hackathon, the Raleigh event will be co-located with a series of developer events taking place simultaneously around the world, in cites such as Chicago, London, Dublin, Madrid, New Delhi and Melbourne.

TADHack marks the only global meeting of developers to learn, share, code and create using the tools and technologies available in telecommunications. Teams will compete to showcase their ideas around voice and messaging into consumer applications, business processes and IoT devices. The winning prizes include a total of $35,000 in global cash, along with local awards that include a $1,000 team prize, Apple Watch, Oculus Rift Development Kit and drones.

  • Triangle Startup Weekend TrailBlazers

Triangle Startup Weekend: TrailBlazers (TSW) is scheduled for June 12-14 at American Underground in Durham. This event’s theme is TrailBlazers, with a specific focus on diversity – both in ideas/sectors as well as ethnicity. TSW is a weekend of hands-on experience on what it takes to become an entrepreneur.

Over a 3-day weekend, aspiring entrepreneurs have the opportunity to pitch their ideas, organize into teams, develop business and marketing strategies and present their businesses to an esteemed panel of judges actively engaged in the Triangle’s startup community. In the larger scheme of things, Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.

  • International Summer Social

The International Summer Social sponsored by the Organization of Women in International Trade’s Greater Triangle Chapter is set set for June 3 from 6-8 p.m. at the Research Triangle Park Foundation.

Other sponsors include the Canadian Business Association of North Carolina (CBA-NC) and the Triangle Chapter of the British American Business Council (Triangle BABCNC). Keynote speakers: Christopher Chung, CEO, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolinaand Jean Davis, CEO, MCNC. $20 for members of partner organizations, nonprofits and students; $35 for non-members.
