The CED’s long-awaited digital doorway to the Triangle’s entrepreneurs, Triangulate, is open.

The state-wide entrepreneurial organization made the interactive map available for public viewing as of 8:30 Friday morning.

TriangulateNC.com, according to the  CED, is “an interactive site that represents the entrepreneurial activity in the Research Triangle.”

CED has created the database and architecture for the map in partnership with Relevance, Inc. and more than 75 community partners.

“We want to use the power of the community,” said Joan Siefert Rose, president of CED, in an interview. “Triangulate really fits into that.”

According to Siefert Rose, the “map shows the networks that we know best, technology and the life sciences.” CED is working with partners to encourage further development of the map to a broader spectrum of industries.

“Triangulate will help us better organize the entrepreneurial network,” said Siefert Rose. “It helps us find each other, and it also helps people outside of the region look at the Triangle.”

This will result in two beneficial outcomes for the region, said Siefert Rose.

First, “we hope that starts conversations with talent,” who will be able to see all of the entrepreneurial activity that is occurring, said Siefert Rose.

Second, CED hopes to attract out-of-region investors, or “sources of capital from outside of the market,” said Siefert Rose.

“Presumably CED will be the organization they contact,” said Siefert Rose, who expressed gratitude to a group of community partners, all of whom will be listed on the map as well.

As reported in a previous WRAL Tech Wire exclusive, Triangulate will have information on nearly 1,000 companies.

CED continues to encourage local businesses, startups, and individuals to visit the website, which also includes a community calendar of events, and enter their data in order to be accurately represented on the map.
