After months of planning and public discussion, Qualicaps has officially announced a three-year, $26 million expansion of its Guilford County factory that makes gelatin capsules.

Governor Pat McCrory and N.C. Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker joined company officials in announcing the addition of 123 jobs to the factory that already employs more than 150 in Whitsett, about midway between Greensboro and Burlington.

They said the project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund of up to $235,000. The grant is contingent upon proof of job creation and receipt of a local funding match.

The Whitsett site serves as the Irving, Texas-based company’s North American headquarters and North American manufacturing hub.
