The road to the 2014 South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas will lead through Raleigh – for at least one Triangle resident.

The Work in the Triangle #Raleigh2SXSW Ambassador Contest will give the winner entry to the festival with an all-access pass and most expenses paid. All contestants have to do is film and post a video between one and two minutes long explaining why they should represent Raleigh at SXSW. The video must be publicly uploaded to a contestant’s personal YouTube account with the hashtag #Raleigh2SXSW. After uploading the video, entrants must also sent a link to the video via an entry form.

The contest is sponsored by Work in the Triangle, a Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce initiative in partnership with Raleigh Economic Development. Besides gaining access to SXSW, the contest winnner will also get to travel to the festival in an RV carrying local leaders and entrepreneurs.

Contestants are encouraged to promote their videos on all forms of social media. Videos will be judged by a panel of Raleigh community and business leaders on creativity, originality and “entrants’ passion for Raleigh as well as their influence on social media.”

All videos must be submitted by the given deadline and must not include profanity, nudity, drug use or any other inappropriate behavior. Entrants who reside outside the Triangle are ineligible. The entry deadline is Sept. 27 at 11:59 p.m.

Once the finalists are announced, public voting will determine the winner. The public vote ends on Oct. 11 at 5 p.m.
