Lizzy Hazeltine, who served as program director for the Minor in Entrepreneurship Program at UNC-Chapel Hill, has joined the management team at The Startup Factory.

Her title is Venture Associate.

Hazeltine is TSF’s third full-time employee, joining directors and co-founders Chris Heivly and Dave Neal. Her responsibilities will include building and growing investor relationships both in the Triangle and across the country.

“We are thrilled to add Lizzy to our team. She brings great relationships and respect from her prior activities,” Neal and Heivly said in a statement

“Her passion for entrepreneurs and her connections in and around the national ecosystem will benefit TSF and our growing portfolio. We are lucky to have her as an integral part of our team.”

Hazeltine is a 2011 UNC graduate.

“I am thrilled to be able to blend my passion for helping entrepreneurs and desire to bring awareness to angel & venture investors of the TSF portfolio. I have had the opportunity to work with both Dave and Chris prior to my new role, and I look forward to hitting the ground running,” shared Lizzy.

TSF has made investments in 31 companies, 23 of which continue in operation. Five firms are involved in the current accelerator program.

Heivly and Neal noted that 13 of the 26 still operating are “on a positive trajectory,” and 10 have raised additional funding on an average of $410,000.

“To that end, Lizzy will be responsible for representing the portfolio to local, regional and national investors building and deepening relationships that Dave and I have created over the past three years as TSF. The success of the program is partially based on the ability for our companies to raise additional funds,” Heivly said.
