CBC Americas, which is part of a Japanese-owned conglomerate, is moving its corporate headquarters to Cary and is opening a distribution center in the Alamance County community of Mebane, promising to create 96 jobs over the next five years and to invest $3.5 million.
the company will receive a One North Carolina Fund grant of $63,000. Such grants require a local match.
Gov. Pat McCrory announced the CBC Americas decision Wednesday morning.
The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of CBC Co. Ltd. in Japan. CBC Americas focuses on import, export, trade and distribution of imaging technology pharmaceutical, chemical and other products as well as security solutions.
Its headquarters is currently located in Long Island, N.Y.
Of the jobs, 67 will be located in Cary and 29 in Alamance County.
“CBC AMERICAS is a welcome addition to our thriving community of Japanese businesses in North Carolina,” said McCrory in the announcement. “North Carolina continues to gain a global reputation as a great location for international businesses.”
Salaries in Cary will average nearly $86,000.
The Alamance jobs will pay an average of $36,128.
