PricewaterhouseCoopers is the latest firm to commit $100,000 to the Council for Entrepreneurial Development’s “Innovation to Impact” campaign, pushing the CED to two thirds of its fund-raising goal.

Jeff Barber, managing partner of the PwC office in Raleigh who is a well-known player in the venture capital and entrepreneurial circles, says the contribution makes sense.

“CED has been critical to the entrepreneurial success of the region and is truly one of the driving forces for the local technology-based startups,” Barber says.

CED now lists 20 different firms as having given $100,000. CED hopes to raise $3 million over five years for the “Impact” campaign.

The money is to be used to three primary areas, according to CED President Monica Doss: Provide more services in area of management and leadership development; get civic, academic, government, corporate and technology organizations more involved in entrepreneurial services and regional promotion; and working with under-represented areas and groups to foster high-tech company growth.
