Startup VacationFutures is expanding its vacation home management platform to property owners and managers in Hilton Head, S.C.

“Hilton Head is a great market and an exciting opportunity for us,” said company co-founder Mickey Kropf in a statement. “We’re looking forward to see where it goes.”

Durham-based VacationFutures’ online platform gives homeowners the ability to sell the rental rights to their vacation property in wholesale, bulk packages to travel agencies, property management groups, or vacation planners. The homeowner is paid an up-front lump sum following a due diligence process that qualifies the proposed buyer of the rental rights.

Property managers love the platform, said Kropf, because they “gain the flexibility of buying wholesale and renting retail.”

The company already serves homeowners in the Outer Banks and other beach property in North Carolina.

According to Rob Reichel, sales agent for Sea Pines Real Estate in Hilton Head, VacationFutures will “deliver value for vacation rental owners and management companies alike.” Reichel plans to use the platform to expand his business, now that VacationFutures has expanded to Hilton Head.

The company, a graduate of Durham’s Startup Factory, was founded by Kropf and CEO Andrew McConnell. McConnell and Kropf pitched at Paradoxos in June and are still pursuing an initial round of funding.
