The Startup and Tech Expo will make its stop in the Triangle Wednesday evening at N.C. State University’s Hunt Library.

Hosted by TechBreakfast, a community of innovators and entrepreneurs that meets monthly to foster technological advancement, the expo showcases dozens of local and regional tech startups in each city it visits.

Kathleen Walch, Triangle Startup and Tech Expo organizer, said she believes the event will create an environment for entrepreneurs to connect with potential investors and prospective employees.

“We saw a need in the community to bring together technologists, startups, companies based in the Triangle, and companies that service startups,” Walch said.

“Raleigh is one of the major centers for technology and entrepreneurship,” she continued, “this event is geared towards helping to foster and grow that relationship.”

Technology-related jobs account for over 10 percent of the Triangle’s workforce – nearly doubling the U.S. average – according to a 2017 Moody’s Analytics study.

The one-night event expects to attract over 1,000 professionally-diverse attendees from across the region.

With entrepreneurs, investors, industry influencers and job-seekers in close proximity, the expo has a unique opportunity to foster economic growth in the area.

“Engagement and exposure are two fundamental factors to a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Aditya Badve, CEO of NanoVest.co – a Chapel Hill-based startup attending the expo.

“We fully believe that the Triangle has the opportunity to be the next big hub for entrepreneurship,” Badve said.

“Events like the Expo are very important to allowing members of the community to connect while providing an opportunity for new members to get involved as well,” he concluded.

NanoVest.co aims to unify entrepreneurial communities by providing a centralized platform for discovery, discussion and engagement.

The expo offers opportunity for more than just tech companies.

Linda Gutin, founder of ROI Resumes, said she hopes to meet job-seekers who want help strengthening their resumes or cover letters.

The Cary-based entrepreneur also noted the challenge behind networking in a large community that has so many different “orbits” within it.

Gutin said she believes the expo will naturally address this issue, stating, “It will provide an opportunity for people to get to know each other.”

The Startup and Tech Expo will begin at 6 p.m. and is free to the public. More info about the event can be found on its registration page: https://nvite.com/eb/35827663506
