Square 1 Bank has moved an executive to Seattle to help build the bank’s life sciences practice in the Pacific Northwest.

Rilus Graham, Square 1’s vice president of life sciences, will manage Square 1’s life sciences portfolio for the Northwest and the Rocky Mountains. He will also be charged with building new connections in those regions. Durham-based Square 1 focuses on providing banking services to entrepreneurs and the venture capital community.

Graham has already done work for Square 1 on the West Coast. He moved to San Diego in 2009 to help the bank launch its West Coast life sciences practice. There, he also co-founded Spark Bio, a life science venture capital networking association. Graham joined Square 1 in 2007, starting as a portfolio analyst in Durham supporting the technology and life sciences portfolios.
