Square 1 Bank has added a venture capital veteran to its board of directors.

Dr. Seth Rudnick, a partner at global VC firm Canaan Partners, will sit on the board of both Square 1 Bank and Square 1 Financial. He has more than 30 years of experience in the venture industry.

Rudnick also sits on the board of Triangle-based Liquidia Technologies and Pozen, which is based in Chapel Hill.

An adjunct clinical professor of medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill, Rudnick also is a member of the scientific advisory board at Triangle based Chimerix Scientific.

He brings considerable experience and insight, shares the strategic vision of our organization, and his background closely parallels the Bank’s core business model.,” said Square 1 Chief Executive officer Doug Bowers.

Rudnick earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia and is from North Carolina.
