IXL Learning, an education technology firm based in Silicon Valley, is opening an office in Raleigh. It’s the first East Coast presence for the firm. And the company is hiring.

Available positions include engineering and curriculum design.

IXL already has a number of clients in North Carolina.

“We’re actively hiring engineers and curriculum designers to join our team,” said Karen Penner, Recruiting Manager for IXL, “Building out our team in Raleigh will allow us to reach even more students, educators and parents with our passion for K-12 educational advancement.”

The firm formally announced the launching of the Raleigh office today but has already put some team members in place for sales, marketing, customer support.

“As we grow and continue to broaden our influence in the edtech community, our new Raleigh office allows IXL to join the thriving tech culture of the Research Triangle and better serve our East Coast customers,” said Jennifer Gu, executive Vice President of IXL, in a statement. “Raleigh is a booming tech hub, and we’re thrilled to tap into talent in the area.”

IXL focuses on immersive learning with an emphasis on math and language arts.

Public and private schools representing more than 5,000 teachers and 150,000 students in North Carolina use IXL tools. The company says it has more than 5 million users across 190 countries.
