The Research Triangle will be well represented at the upcoming Southeast Venture Conference in Atlanta with numerous firms already selected to be among the “pitchers” at the two-day event.

But so will numerous other states with nearly 50 companies selected so far as “showcase companies.”

The SEVC is set for May 6-7 at the Ritz Carlton.

  • Advanced Animal Diagnostics – Durham, NC

Advanced Animal Diagnostics, Inc. commercializes proprietary technology for the diagnosis of farm-animal diseases. It uses an animal’s own immune response to detect and stage infections to improve quality of life for producers, processors, animals, and consumers. Advanced Animal Diagnostics, Inc. was founded in 2001, has raised $17M, and is based in Durham, North Carolina.

  • Aloe – Atlanta, GA

Aloe is an early-stage firm that allows people to make face-to-face video conference calls with a doctor 24/7. Using Aloe, parents are able to consult with a pediatrician via video and get a fast diagnosis. Aloe is based in Atlanta, GA.

  • Ambition – Chattanooga, TN

Ambition is fantasy football for sales organizations. By gamifying sales, Ambition provides recognition, transparency, and competition while simultaneously encouraging collaboration and team cohesiveness. Since launching in August of 2013, the platform has seen over $500 million in annualized sales flowing through Ambition.

  • Attentive.ly – Washington D.C.

Founded in 2012, Attentive.ly shows a business or nonprofit what their email marketing list is saying on social media to target specific groups based on interest and influence. Attentive.ly is an alumni of LaunchPad2X, an exclusive women entrepreneurship educational program offered through Atlanta Technology Angels, one of Atlanta’s top angel investing networks.

  • Axial Exchange – Raleigh, NC

The Raleigh-based company has built its technology around methods such as Project RED from Boston University Medical Center and Project BOOST from the Society of Hospital Medicine. 12 health system clients,representing more than 50 hospitals and is backed by Canaan Partners and Mayo Ventures.

  • Brickstream – Norcross, GA

Founded in 2000, Brickstream provides behavior intelligence solutions for understanding human behavior in places where people shop, gather, work and play. Combining in-store video and sensors, Brickstream gathers information about their customers’ experiences inside company locations, contributing to the $3B retail in-store behavior analytics market. Headquartered in Norcross, GA, the company has raised over $21M to date.

  • Campus Bubble – Atlanta, GA

Campus Bubble is an early stage firm providing academic institutions with a student powered, cross platform, private online community, focused on user generated content, group management, and community engagement. The founders were college roommates at Emory University and formalized their business plan in an entrepreneurship class.

Variable’s NODE wireless sensor platform for smart devices made its debut on kickstarter.com in March 2012. Since then, the team at Variable, Inc. has been hard at work, raising additional venture capital. CNN Money recognized the NODE as “the coolest gizmo” at CES 2013.
