Stephen Wiehe, CEO of SciQuest, had plenty of company when he left the company – a departure SciQuest disclosed Thursday and formally announced Friday.

In all, seven of nine members in the Morrisville company’s leadership team are gone.

Sources confirmed to WRAL TechWire the other departures.

In announcing the hiring of a new CEO (Robert Bonavito) on Friday, SciQuest said Wiehe had “stepped down.”

SciQuest was sold for some $500 million, a deal that closed two months ago, to private equity firm Accel-KKR.

SciQuest acknowledged Thursday to The Triangle Business Journal that Wiehe had left the company and a new CEO named in his place. Bonavito also told TBJ that there had been a “reorganization.” SciQuest had not responded to inquiries made earlier by WRAL TechWire.

Nothing was said in the initial report about the other six executives whose bios and photos were removed later from the company’s website.

“The new people wanted to bring in their own team,” a source familiar with the situation said.

Later in the day Friday, the names, photos and brief bios of two new executive team members were added to its website.

The firm did issue a brief press release Friday morning about the CEO change and included a quote from Wiehe.

Wiehe did not respond to several requests for comment.
