Sentinel Data Centers has sold its huge data facility in Durham along with another facility for $490 million.

The buyer is CyrusOne, a publicly traded firm based in Texas that owns, operates, and develops data centers.

Sentinel announced the closing of the deal on Wednesday. Sentinel, which is based in New York, also sold a facility in Somerset, N.J. It is retaining ownership of two other centers.

“We are grateful for the top notch partners, investors, employees and customers who have contributed so significantly to our success over the past 15 years since we started Sentinel,” said Sentinel co-founders and co-CEOS Todd Aaron and Josh Rabina.

“We continue to seek new opportunities as the industry evolves and look forward to both furthering these relationships and building new ones for years to come.”

Sentinel picked Durham as a site for expansion in 2012. The first section opened in 2013.
