SAS Institute and Quintiles (NYSE:Q), widely recognized as two major contributors to the Research Triangle’s economy, are now being recognized as two of the top places to work in IT.

The two companies were named to IDG Computerworld’s “100 Best Places to Work in IT list. Cary-based SAS ranked 24 while Quintiles, headquartered in Durham, ranked 100. Both companies have made the Computerworld annual list multiple times. Also making the list this year from North Carolina was Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, which ranked 67.

Computerworld’s editorial team compiles the list after ranking companies in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. There is also a worker satisfaction survey completed by a random sampling of IT workers at the companies.

The overall best place to work in IT was Detroit-based Quicken Loans.
