Business analytics software from SAS is continuing to grow in market share, according to a new report from research firm IDC.

Cary-based SAS has 36.2 percent of the 2012 global market for advanced analytics, IDC says. That’s up by almost a percentage point from last year and it’s twice the market share of SAS’ nearest competitor. All of the advanced analytics providers combined for just 24.9 percent market share.

IDC also ranked SAS as a top five overall business analytics provider. SAS ranked in the top five in subcategories including: query and reporting’ content analytics; data warehouse generation; supply chain; service operations; and CRM analytic applications and financial performance and strategy management.

Besides SAS, the IDC report, Worldwide Business Analytics Software 2013-2017 Forecast and 2012 Vendor Shares, covers companies including Oracle, SAP, IBM, Teradata and Microsoft.
