More bad news for Lenovo. After reporting a quarterly loss last week for the first time in two years, the PC giant saw notebook shipments plunge in July, according to a new report. And the bad news isn’t over.

“Lenovo’s July shipments slid 15 percent on year and are likely to see weak performances for the rest of the second half of 2017,” Taiwan-based Digitimes Research reported Monday.

HP, Lenovo’s top rival which recently regained the world’s No. 1 PC seller spot from Lenovo, bucked the notebook industry trend by increasing its shipments by 33 percent.

HP “enjoyed strong sales in both the consumer and enterprise sectors in the first half of 2017, still produced impressive results on a yearly basis. It has been pushing its notebook shipments aggressively in the second half of the year,” Digitimes reported.

Adding to the bad news for Lenovo: Dell passed Lenovo for the No. 2 spot in notebook shipments.

Overall, notebook shipments for the top five vendors dropped 31 percent from June as school market upgrades came to a close.
