A familiar face is taking over as the leader of economic development at the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.
Michael Haley is the new executive director for Wake County Economic Development and also will serve as senior vice president of Chamber Economic Development, the Chamber announced Wednesday.
“Michael’s extensive experience managing large, complex economic development initiatives, deep knowledge of the region, and contagious enthusiasm make him the ideal fit for the position,” said Adrienne Cole, the Greater Raleigh Chamber’s president and CEO.
Cole held the economic development post before being promoted to the CEO job in March.
Haley worked previously as director of Business Recruitment and Expansion. According to the Chamber, “his work led to the creation of 7,800 jobs and more than $409 million in investments.”
“My passion for this community, economic development, and this organization runs deep,” said Haley in the announcement. “I’m excited to collaborate with our great partners in this new role to continue moving our area forward.”
Earlier, Haley worked for the North Carolina Department of Commerce as a public policy analyst and director of Public Policy. He earned his undergraduate degree at UNC-Chapel Hill and a masters in public administration from East Carolina University.
