CloudBearing, a privately held Raleigh firm which focuses on Microsoft-based applications to run in cloud computing environments, has been acquired by Comparex, a global information technology firm.

The deal has already closed and was announced Friday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Just a year ago, CloudBearing selected Raleigh as its headquarters site.

The firm has some 20 employees in Raleigh and operates offices in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

Few other details about the deal are available at this point. “At this time, we’re not able to make statements beyond the press release,” a spokesperson said.

Nicholas Vossburg, one of CloudBearing’s founders and its CEO, is staying with the company and will serve as director of cloud services for Comparex.

“Today I am very proud of what CloudBearing has been able to accomplish,” said Vossburg in a statement. “We have been in front of the Cloud marketplace from the beginning and by joining forces with Comparex we can leverage our innovative approach to Microsoft Office 365 and Azure deployment on a larger scale.”

CloudBearing “helps organizations move their applications and infrastructure to the Microsoft Cloud to lower cost and risk and to increase security and productivity,” according to the company.

Comparex, a $2 billion revenue company with offices across the Americas as well as Europe, Asia and Africa, says CloudBearing will enable the firm to offer and support Microsoft Office 365 and Azure solutions and support.

Earlier this year, CloudBearing received Microsoft’s US Education Cloud Platform Partner of the Year honor. It received a similar award from Microsoft in 2013 for the eastern part of the U.S.

“As a ‘Born in the Cloud’ organization they have been setting the standards for the deployment and management of the Microsoft Cloud,” said John Havlick, the Comparex executive vice president for Asia-Pacific and the Americas, in announcing the deal.

”By combining their expertise with the support and resources of COMPAREX we are in a position to become a leader in the US market,” he added.
