W. Scott Evangelista, an executive at Deloitte Consulting, is taking over as president of Integrated Commercial Services at Quintiles (NYSE: Q).

He replaces Rich Pilnik, who is retiring.

“Scott will be assuming the responsibilities of Rich Pilnik who is retiring from Quintiles and working with Scott during a transition period,” Quintiles spokesperson Phil Bridges explained. The change was announced Thursday.

Pilnik joined Quintiles in 2009, leaving Eli Lilly where he was a group vice president and chief marketing officer.

Evangelista will oversee delivery of commercial services for Quintiles, the world’s largest life science services company.

“Scott’s experience working on and developing innovative commercial solutions for the biopharmaceutical industry is a tremendous addition to our already world-class team,” said Tom Pike, chief executive officer at Quintiles. “During his career, Scott has been involved in many aspects of the commercial organization, all while delivering a consistent track record of growth and innovation. He brings a range of expertise and experience that I believe will help take our commercial customer support to the next level.”

Evangelista has more than 20 years of experience in the life sciences industry. He most recently served as commercial practice leader for Deloitte’s Life Sciences practice.

“The commercial landscape continues to evolve at an incredible pace that requires innovative thinking, diverse expertise and flawless execution,” Evangelista said in the announcement. “Quintiles is positioned to succeed in this environment, and I look forward to ensuring our team continues to lead and deliver for our commercial customers around the world.”

Evangelista received an undergraduate degree in finance and a master’s in management information systems at Boston University.
