Using 3D technology to help train people how to run clinical trials also produced recognition for Pharmaceutical Product Development.

PPD’s 3D technology for global training in clinical trials received the Best Technological Development in Clinical Trials honor from Scrip, an international life science media and technology firm, earlier this week in London.

At the same event, Scrip recognized Quintiles Executive Chairman Dennis Gillings and the company he founded for awards.

Scrip has recognized technology development at PPD for two consecutive years.

“Winning this award for the second consecutive year is a testament to the people of PPD,” said David Simmons, chairman and chief executive officer of PPD. “In today’s evolving health care model, CROs must be able to adapt to clients’ changing needs and proactively meet their challenges. PPD connects talented people and innovative solutions to exceed the needs of our biopharmaceutical industry clients, who are constantly seeking ways to increase productivity and efficiency.”

PPD developed PPD 3D along with ProtonMedia.

“PPD were worthy winners of this award,” said Mike Ward, chief content officer for Datamonitor Healthcare and Scrip Intelligence. “Their PPD 3D technology has improved the cost-effectiveness, speed and quality of clinical trial training for the life sciences, and our judges were impressed by the novel use of this type of technology in clinical research, saying it has huge potential.”
