The NTIA Broadband Map is a pile of poorly-written fiction. Sorry, but it is. It claims I can get gigabit access from a company that doesn't even serve my county. (I'm in Chatham Co, and they're claiming that 3db Wireless serves us, when they don't come out of the mountains!) I'm on Verizon right now and they're clearly using marketing info and not real data -- I barely get a signal! The DSL coming out of CenturyLink is woefully unreliable by all reports (at least, that I've heard) and we can't afford Charter's cable Internet because they want four figures to run the cable (we're a wee distance from the pole). HugesNet is expensive and stingy and we have trees in our yard, so they're out.

...so we're stuck with what we have, and it stinks.

NTIA, please fix your coverage map to respect and represent reality. What you have there now does not do that, and there's no obvious way (of course) to correct it.
