Doug Edgeton, who stepped down earlier this year as president of the Piedmont Triad Research Park, has joined the executive team at the N.C. Biotechnology Center.

Edgeton was named vice president for financial planning and development.

Norris Tolson, chief executive officer of the Biotech Center, confirmed Edgeton’s hiring to the Winston-Salem Journal.

Edgeton resigned his Triad post on Feb. 29. He had been president since 2007.

“I have never worked as hard to hire someone as I did Doug,” Tolson told the newspaper. “From talking and interviewing with him, he expressed he was at the stage in his career where he wanted to give back to the state, and this new position would allow him to do that.”
