It’s graduation day at the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce for its first “HOTTies.’

The so-called HOTTies program enrolled five startups in March as Morrisville launched its own new business accelerator called HOTTovation. HOTTovation and HOTTies play off Morrisville’s “Heart of the Triangle” branding campaign.

The five firms “graduated” from the program after receiving support, space and mentoring. They are:

  • Ed Burgard and Dignify Therapeutics Inc., a drug development for urinary retention disorders
  • Jason Barker and JB Webology Group, a vendor relationship manageent platform
  • Paige Julian Sullivan and Concert Telecommunications, an enterprise-class telephone system
  • Samra Busi-Janish and chAPPter1, an education program teaching eight to fourteen-year olds how to create mobile apps
  • Steve Doyle and Finder 411, an online community platform for businesses

The Cary Citizen has  more details on the startups and the program.

HOTTovation is also part of a broader brand that Carlotta Ungaro, who directs the Chamber, launched in February called the Morrisville Innovation Foundation.

The HOTT effort reflects efforts by other Triangle cities and private entities within those markets to encourage new business development.
