A company that develops mobile applications plans to expand in Durham, creating at least 98 jobs in the next three years, officials said Thursday.

WillowTree Inc. is expected to invest at least $245,000 in its expansion at the American Underground incubator.

The Charlottesville, Va.-based firm has been ranked by Inc.Magazine as one of the nation’s fastest-growing companies for the last four years. Its clients include Johnson & Johnson, General Electric, AOL, Regal Cinema Group, Time Warner and PepsiCo.

The Durham expansion will include software developers, mobile designers and project managers, and the average salary of the new jobs will be $83,333 per year, plus benefits.

WillowTree has qualified for a grant of up to $73,500 from the One North Carolina Fund, which provides financial assistance for business projects. Companies receive no upfront money and must meet hiring and investment targets to get the funds, along with local matching money.
