A new interactive metrics dashboard created by the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC) tracks RTP Region cleantech jobs, patents, capital investments and venture funding.

In a statement, ee Anne Nance, RTCC managing director and executive vice president of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP), which manages the cluster said “Our member businesses want accountability to ensure the organization is generating economic growth and benefit for the region. Our new metrics dashboard puts that accountability and impact front and center so we can keep our eyes on the prize.”

The RTCC exists to accelerate the growth of the region’s cleantech cluster. The dashboard’s metrics are designed to track the success of the RTCC’s Program of Work, which focuses on promoting the region’s brand position as a global leader for cleantech, supporting the growth of the region’s cleantech ecosystem and convening cluster industries and partners in ways that promote innovation.

The dashboard, publicly available at www.researchtrianglecleantech.org/our_impact, contains the latest data available on measures RTCC members consider critical: cleantech employment, workforce share, capital investments, patents and venture funding.

Among the metrics the dashboard reports:

  • Regional cleantech companies announced $1.29 billion in recurring investment from July 2009 to June 2014, creating 10,500 jobs.
  • The region posts the largest concentration of cleantech employees compared to peer regions of Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Denver and San Diego.
  • The concentration of regional cleantech workers grew at double the rate of the closest peer region during 2004-2013.
  • Regional innovators generated 26 clean energy patents between 2002 and 2013.
  • Regional cleantech companies attracted more than $89.5 million in venture funding during 2011-2013.
