Cenduit, a global provider of services related to clinical trials, is adding 44 percent more office space at its Durham headquarters and plans to increase its local staff by some 30 percent this year.

A spokesperson for the company told WRAL Tech Wire that Cenduit plans to add 12 employees this year, up from 45 at the end of 2012.

Worldwide, the company employs some 300 people.

To accommodate growth, Cenduit is leasing more than 18,000 square feet in Durham, up from just under 13,000.

The firm also secured a first right of refusal on an additional 7,000 square feet.

Cenduit launched in 2007 as a joint venture between Quintiles and Thermo Fisher Scientific

Expansion is not limited to the U.S. Cenduit also is adding more office space as well as a new employee at its office in Basel, Switzerland.

“The increase in offices and infrastructure is required to support our global investment in capacity,” said Jogin Desai, the firm’s chief executive officer. “Our aim is to provide the best possible support to sites and sponsors and to do this through continued investment in our customer-facing groups.”

Cenduit provides patient randomization and clinical supply services.

The company also named Chris Dailey, a veteran interactive software and telecommunications executive, as its global head of technology.

“The expansion and the acquisition of senior leadership like Chris give us the bandwidth to execute our plans to implement new technologies and augment the breadth of services that we provide to sponsors,” Desai said. “Our top priority is enabling investigator sites to achieve overall compliance through seamless management of patient enrollment and treatment throughout the clinical trial.”
