LexisNexis, which operates a large division for its Legal & Professional business group at N.C. State’s Centennial Campus, is moving an undisclosed number of jobs to Raleigh from a campus near Dayton, Ohio.

The company also lists some 60 open jobs at the Raleigh location, according to its website.

The Dayton Daily News reported earlier this week that the company was moving jobs to Raleigh. In a statement, the company confirmed the transfer but did not disclose how many jobs would be affected.

Meanwhile, LexisNexis continues to advertise for open jobs at the Centennial Campus outpost.

According to the company’s website, some 50 positions (including internships) were available in December and January. Some 450 people already work in Raleigh.

LexisNexis also continues to show several job openings in Dayton where it has some 3,000 workers.

Job transfers to North Carolina will occur over a five-year time span, LexisNexis told the newspaper.

“As we continue to build a software and technology center of excellence in Raleigh, North Carolina, some technology roles will move from Miamisburg to Raleigh over time,” LexisNexis spokeswoman Pamela Rath said in a statement to the newspaper. “On balance, the total number of employees across the LexisNexis Legal & Professional business remains consistent with prior years.

“Our company has a long history of operations and innovation in Ohio, and we remain committed to our facility in Miamisburg,” she added. “Dayton is a key office location and talent feeder into the organization with employees at this site supporting mission-critical deliverables.”

LexisNexis launched in Dayton as Mead Data Corp. in 1966.

Over the past year, LexisNexis has added some 75 jobs in Raleigh.

LexisNexis began expanding its campus in Raleigh four years ago and began relocating from Cary to Raleigh. At the time it had some 125 employees locally.
