In May, employers posted a daily average of 3,260 openings for IT professionals, although the report notes that these changes in posted labor demand do not have a significant impact on actual hiring. It adds, however, that “As of now, hiring of IT professionals in North Carolina remains strong.”

The North Carolina seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for April was 6.2 percent, 0.1 of a percentage point down from March’s revised rate of 6.3 percent. The rate is also a 2.2 percentage point drop from the April 2013 rate. Unemployment decreased in 99 of North Carolina’s 100 counties in April. The national unemployment rate for May remained unchanged at 6.3 percent.
