Charlotte-based agricultural data company AGDATA has been purchased for an undisclosed sum by a large national investment firm, San Francisco-based Vista Equity Partners.

AGDATA, which bills itself as the leading provider of strategic data and analytical solutions to the world’s largest agricultural and animal health manufacturers, had been financed by Rye, New York-based SFW Capital Partners since 2010.

“We look forward to working with our new partners at Vista Equity to build upon our achievements over the last four years,” said AGDATA CEO Richard Bettison.

“This sale represents the culmination of our successful partnership with SFW. We appreciated the strong support and resources SFW provided, helping us accelerate our strategic growth plans, improve our business infrastructure, and enhance AGDATA’s position as the leading provider of information and analytics to the agriculture and animal health sector.”

Founded in 1985, AGDATA operates throughout the United States and Canada, enabling agriculture and animal health industry participants to collect and analyze sales data, develop and manage marketing strategies and execute sales and marketing programs.

AGDATA uses SaaS-based technology in its AgCelerate Industry Standard Platforms to connect manufacturers, growers and distributors.

The companies provided no information about how or if the change would affect employment at AGDATA.
