Technologists and thought leaders will gather in Wilson for WRAL TechWire’s Executive Exchange event: Evolution of a Smarter City.

The event is set for Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Edna Boykin Cultural Center.

As the smart cities movement spreads across the U.S., Wilson is proving that businesses and citizens in major metropolitan cities are not the only beneficiaries of gigabit technology and the innovation it fosters. And the city is the site of an event drawing experts from Harvard to N.C. State as well as the private sector, including Google Fiber where lessons learned and best practices will fill the agenda.

The program will include a keynote and two in-depth panel discussions.

No matter the size, architecting a smart city is a community effort requiring a shared vision and unwavering focus.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Keynote: Susan Crawford, John A. Reilly Clinical Professor of Law, Harvard Law School

Crawford is the author of Captive Audience: The Telecom Industry and Monopoly Power in the New Gilded Age, co-author of The Responsive City: Engaging Communities Through Data-Smart Governance, and a contributor to Medium.com’s Backchannel.
