Clyde Higgs stepping down at NC Research Campus

Clyde Higgs, executive vice president of operations and business development for Castle & Cooke, North Carolina/the NC Research Campus (NCRC), is stepping down this month to become the chief executive officer of Atlanta Beltline, a multi-billion dollar economic development project in Georgia.

Higgs is the second top leader to leave the campus this year. In May, Higgs replaced Lynne Scott Safrit, who resigned as president of the Kannapolis development.

Higgs joined the NCRC in 2006. In his nine years of leadership at the NCRC, he led the economic development recruitment of the campus’ 20 partners, which include major universities as well as international food companies like General Mills. He witnessed the campus’ employment base grow from a handful of employees to a research center with over 1,000 jobs associated with it.

Cary-based Medfusion launches new app

Medfusion says its new app, launching today, provides patients with a one-stop place for all their medical records called Medfusion Plus.

For decades, if patients wanted access to their medical records, they had to request and pay for a paper copy, which could take several days if not weeks. With the advent of portals, patients gained electronic access to certain portions of their medical records as created at the individual provider level, but this information was never available all in one place.

The app is available from Google Play or the Apple App store, it includes laboratory results, immunizations, medication lists, allergies, as well as appointments. www.medfusion.com
