GFI Software is building up its software portfolio by acquiring online backup software company IASO.

Cary-based GFI did not disclose any financial terms for acquiring IASO, based in the Netherlands. IASO offers backup and data recovery capabilities through cloud-based software. The company has customers worldwide sold through 600 direct international partners and resellers.

GFI provides software for small and medium-sized businesses with up to 1,000 users. CEO Walter Scott said GFI has been using IASO’s technology for more than a year.

“We are constantly on the lookout for new technologies that will help us solve our customers’ problems and enhance our products,” Scott said in a statement. “The acquisition of this technology will strengthen our portfolio and allow us to address the rapidly-growing demand for online backup solutions.”
