The Triangle Game Initiative is teaming with The Escapist Magazine to put on a four-day video game festival in Durham from Sept. 4-7.

Called “tiltExpo,” the event replaces The Escapist’s own Expo.

“By bringing games back to Durham, we hope to fill the void that the area is experiencing by the absence of an Escapist Expo, while adding more entertainment and social activities, we expect to take the existing audience’s expectation and blow it out of the water” explains Walter Rotenberry, co-president, of the Triangle Game Initiative. He also is a video game instructor at Wake Tech Community College.

The Triangle Game Initiative is an organization made up of video game companies and related firms based in and around the Triangle.

“Downtown Durham is our hometown, and nothing makes us happier than to see the hometown flourish! When TGI asked us how we’d feel about having them host a game festival in Durham this year, we signed on immediately as their media partner,” said Alexander Macris, senior vice president of Defy Media’s Emerging Brands, which now owns The Escapist.

The event will include all manner of games.

A one-day pass is $15.

A full-event pass is $30.

“Whether you’re into board gaming, CCGs, console games, or tabletop RPGs–Tilt Expo is the place to be!,” said Zachary Boyd, who is managing director for tiltExpo.

More information is available online at the event website.

The Escapist put on its expos each of the last two years.
